Bugatti to increase production of Veyron
To the average earner news of increasing Bugatti production may seem trivial but to super car aficionados such news is like a piece of music -- beautiful and invigorating. Anyway enough with the adjectives, Bugatti has finally decided to increase the production of their million dollar super car Bugatti Veyron. The production number will increase from the original sixty cars produced to a total of seventy-five Veyron annually. According to Bugatti's spokesperson, "We want to shorten the waiting time from just over a year." The addition of the 15 more Veyron doesn’t really have much implication aside from the fact that there is an increasing demand for it plus the fact that most of us can still not afford this car (sigh). Bugatti has also stated that despite the increase in the production number of the Veyron they still would like to keep the car as exclusive as possible. Likewise, there are no current plans to alter or modify the performance of the Veyron which means that it will still keep its incredible 1,000 horsepower. Details on the Veyron: Class: Supercar Body style(s): 2-door coupé Layout: Mid-engine, all-wheel drive Engine(s): 8.0 L quad-turbocharged W16 Transmission(s): 7-speed dual clutch sequential manual Wheelbase: 2710 mm (106.3 in) Length: 4462 mm (175.8 in) Width: 1998 mm (78.7 in) Height: 1206 mm (47.5 in) Curb weight: 1888 kg (4162 lb)

Super Cars Selling like Hot Cakes on Desert Lands

Ride on a camel no more as super cars cross borders on the Sea of Galilee and invades the desert land of the Middle East.
If US before has been considered to be the dwelling spot of European ultra-exclusive super cars, then expect for some changes since that title might be passed on to the desert land of the Middle East particularly United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia where dealers are enjoying triple digit growth in their sales.
Unlike in other parts of the world where sports car are considered mainly as luxury, in UAE it’s treated more of a necessity. The superior mechanical performance of sports cars has become its main attraction aside from the brand name and the racing reputation and history just like Ferrari that has experienced 120 percent sales growth in UAE same with other brands such as Lamborghini, Aston Martin, and Porsche.
Aston Martin which is now 50 percent owned by an Arab investment firm is planning for an expansion in Bahrain with a new showroom and would be joining Germany’s Ruf that has also gained a lot of sales and established a $20 million plant in Bahrain.
But would you believe that most of the buyers that are looking and purchasing sports cars are women? Well that’s according to the Aston Martin’s rep in the Middle East, Emma Hamilton and she even added that “Kuwait is Aston’s biggest market and also has the highest number of women buyers.”

The trend today, the smaller the car the better since it consumes lesser fuel. And for the past few years there has been an increase in the number of subcompact and compact vehicles. Most of the brands that thrived in this segment are Japanese such as the Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, and just very recently the new Scion xB and xD models which are scheduled to go on sale this summer.

Teenage Driver and Drunk Driving
For the past years people between the ages of 15 and 20 were killed in motor vehicle fatal crash and considered to be the number one cause of death among this age group. Why? Lack of experience, exceeding the posted speed limit or driving at a risky speed and driving under the influence of alcohol!
Although it is illegal in every state especially in California for a minor to drive and purchase or acquire alcoholic beverages, accidents due to drunk driving are still rampant.
Well, to prove that young drivers and alcohol doesn’t fit well together, proof to this is the recent news about the Hollywood young singer-actress Lindsay Lohan who was arrested recently by the police because she was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol when she crashed her car the night after bar hopping and nightclubbing with some of her friends.
Aside from that all along Interstate 15 in Escondido three Perris teenagers were killed because of drinking and over speeding. Add to that was the death of a drunken teenager and the injury two teenage girls due to car crash by new comer Hollywood actor Lane Garrison.
Candysse Miller executive director of the Insurance Information Network of California said that “California has some of the toughest young driver laws in the country, and this week’s high-profile and tragic collisions are graphic reminders of why these laws- zero tolerance and graduated licensing provisions exist.”
Actually according to the last year report from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, car accidents that involves teenagers is decreasing due to the said scheme. This zero-tolerance law bans those young drivers to be seating behind the wheel possessing blood level of .01 per cent or worst higher than that.
Well then despite of the encouragement done by the government still zero tolerance programs for teenage drivers seem to be hard to grip. So the best advice for this is to urge parents to insist on familiarizing themselves with the possibility of jeopardy with regards to their young inexperienced teenagers.

40 Years of Mazda Rotary Engine … and Still Counting
Mazda Motor Corporation has celebrated its 40th anniversary in developing and successfully manufacturing rotary engines for their numerous vehicle commercial and motor sports racing models. Mazda released the first rotary engine powered vehicle in May 1967 and to date, Mazda has already produced about 2 million models equipped with the rotary engine.
As a part of the celebration, Jim O'Sullivan, President and CEO of Mazda North American Operations commented: "Only Mazda -- a company with a laser-like focus on vehicle development and engineering success -- would have had the perseverance and unwavering spirit to pursue the rotary engine. From humble beginnings in the 1950s to a very bright hydrogen-fueled future, the rotary engine represents Mazda as a company that follows the road less traveled, and makes its own successes where others have failed."
Check out the highlights of Mazda rotary engine over the last 40 years.
- The 1970 R100 was the first Mazda model sold in the US equipped with the rotary engine. It was followed by other Mazda models including the RX-2, RX-3, RX-4, RX-5 Cosmo, and the Rotary Pickup truck.
- During the launch of the Mazda RX-7 in 1979, it shook up the sports car establishment and set sales records never before seen with sports cars
- Subsequent RX-7 generations were launched in 1986 and 1993, including the first production applications of turbocharging the rotary engine in the U.S. market.
- The rotary engine saw an update with the introduction of side porting featured in the Mazda RX-8 four-door sports car, which was launched in 2003
- Mazda vehicles in motorposrts equipped with the rotary engine has landed over 100 professional sports car racing victories in the U.S. alone
- Mazda was the first and only Japanese automaker to ever win the grueling 24-Hours of Le Mans race.
- So successful was Mazda's entry in the 1991 race that the rules for subsequent races were changed to ban the rotary engine.
- The Star Mazda Championship uses open-wheel race cars equipped with the Mazda rotary engine.
- Mazda continues to develop the rotary engine combined with other powertrain interface like the hydrogen-fueled rotary and hydrogen rotary hybrid-electric engine.

Infinity and Beyond… Nissan G37!
Nissan will be taking another step for fame as they launch Infiniti
vehicles in the European market by next year - second generation
G-series coupe, now called the G37. This will be available in three
models: G37 Coupe, G37 Coupe Journey and G37 Coupe Sport 6MT.
According to Nissan it will embody four design aspects that will work
hand in hand to build a harmonious balance in design. These four
aspects are Energetic force, spiritual precision, seductive luster and
dignified air. This G37 generation shows the influence of nature
visible with its seductive gleam. It is very peaceful, refreshing, and
passive.
But then despite of newly developed technologies to make certain
changes, just like other carmakers, still Nissan incorporate the former
design for the current model.
Add to that, certain changes from the first generation will include the
following: 3.7-liter DOHC 24-valve V-6, 330 horsepower and 270 lb-ft
of torque, and newly developed VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift)
system, newly enhanced platform and suspension system. According to the
Vice President and General Manager of Infiniti
Mark Igo, there are factors why they’ve change the engine: Increased
performance, responsiveness and efficiency. According to the Senior
Vice President, Design Director of Nissan Motor Company Shiro Nakamura,
they were not looking for a diverse design path for this second
generation replica but a progression of the design which is even more
seductive and exciting than the former generation. He added that the
power of design is the ability to cross all language and cultures.

Cigarette Smoking is Dangerous while Driving
Driving in the influence of drugs and alcohol has been a big no-no for
years. Using mobile phones seem to be going that direction too, as an
increasing number of U.S. states and foreign countries have passed
legislation eliminating cell phone use while driving. Next up on the
list of banned driving activities? Smoking.
According to the Local Authority Road Safety (UK) Officer Simon
Ettinghausen, smoking is a dangerous distraction. And between eating,
drinking, using a mobile phone or smoking – word is that the worst of
them all is smoking.
At least that’s what representatives from the Local Authority Road
Safety Officers' Association think. They say smoking can be just as
distracting when using a mobile phone. It’s not just because of
nicotine's physiological effects to our health but also the occurrence
of foggy white smoke inside the car. So road safety officers are
calling on the UK government to ban smoking behind the wheel to cut the
number of accidents.
Of course there will be opposition. Forest, a pro-smoking group, has
already opposed the proposal while the Association of British Drivers
has called it absurd.
But if there were opposition, there were also expressions of support.
Campaign group Action on Smoking and Health has already expressed
support for the proposal.
In less than seven weeks, smoking in all enclosed public places will be
banned across England, bringing it in line with the rest of the UK.
